Pontypool Park
Pontymoile Aquaduct
Lock Keepers Cottage, Pontymoile Basin
Artists may paint in the town centre or the wider environment such as Pontymoile Basin, The Folly, or the The American Gardens. We hope the urban sketchers amongst you will come and join us! There are lots of architecturally interesting re-purposed banks, churches, chapels, such as Crane Street Baptist, public houses, shops, terraces and the historic market to inspire.
Pontypool Park is at the heart of the Eastern Valley's oldest town and was once the formal landscaped gardens of the Pontypool Park Mansion - home of the Hanbury family, who were the local Iron Masters. Since the early 18th Century, the Park has been the focus of artistic interpretation with visitors admiring its many interesting features, such as the shell grotto, rustic arbour, Folly Tower, bandstand, clock tower, water features, lakes and the Sally Gates, installed in the 17th Century. More modern features include the famous 'Pooler' RFC grandstand, the cherry tree avenue and wooden sculptures.
