En Plein Air Painting Competition 2026
The 9th Plein-air festival was held on 25th, 26th and 27th June 2026. Judging took place in Amgueddfa Torfaen Museum, Pontypool, on Sunday, 28th June. Prizes of £250, £100 and £75 were awarded to the artists of the three paintings, selected by our panel of judges.
There were 25 entrants this year, and the standard of work and creativity is excellent! Cast your mind back and remember that we were experiencing the hottest weather the UK has ever experienced whilst the competition was running. Add to that the paintings had to be completed in one day between 9.00am and 4.00pm to comply with the rules of the competition. .
All the paintings are exhibited and available to purchase, in Amgueddfa Torfaen Museum, Pontypool until the end of September.
The Museum opening hours:
Tuesday: 10.00 to 13.00
Wednesday: 10.00 to 16.00
Saturday: 13.00 to 16.00
